Alexander Dumbadze is Assistant Professor of Contemporary Art and Theory at George Washington University. "Time Out" with the Dave Brubeck Quartet feat. Paul Desmond (1959) became the first jazz recording to sell a million copies. After composing, performing, recording and touring in almost every conceivable genre and region, Dave Brubeck was awarded the National Medal of the Arts by President Clinton, designated an NEA Jazz Master in 2000, and just last year honored at the Kennedy Center by President Obama.
