2018 Studio Tour Call to Artists

2018 Studio Tour Call to Artists

Deadline: Feb 23
Artists Around the Rivertowns

From their eblast:

RiverArts® is thrilled to invite artists to participate in the 25th Annual Studio Tour!  25 years ago, RiverArts (known as Rivertowns Arts Council at the time) organized its first ever open studio event with about 10 artists. Last year’s Studio Tour featured more than 80 artists. Over the last two and a half decades, the tour has grown into one of the most anticipated arts events in Westchester County. Join the celebration! Be part of RiverArts Studio Tour’s 25th season.

The tour welcomes artists who live or work in Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, Hastings-on-Hudson, Irvington and Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow and who work in the following media: ceramics, collage, installation, mixed media, mosaics, painting, performance, photography, printmaking and sculpture.

Included with your participation:

1) Preview Exhibitions

Participants are invited to hang one piece in one of the concurrent preview exhibitions during the entire month of April.

Hastings Municipal Building (reception Sunday, March 25th)

Irvington Public Library (reception Thursday, April 19th)

Warner Library in Tarrytown (reception March 29th)

2) PR and Promotion

RiverArts will print

–  16,000 full-color brochures with a map of the tour locations and a thumbnail of each artist’s work. This brochure will require one square image at 300dpi for each artist’s listing.

–   banners, posters & flyers

In addition, RiverArts places advertisements in publications including the Rivertowns Enterprise, Hudson Independent, Rivertownsguide.com. and listings in various publications throughout the county and the metro area (as well as Facebook and Twitter campaigns). Negotiations are currently underway to list the Studio Tour as part of a getaway package with Metro North.

3) Web Presence

RiverArts highlights the Studio Tour in its e-blasts, on the RiverArts’ website (riverarts.org), and on the designated Studio Tour website (studiotour.riverarts.org), which promotes participating artists before, during and after the tour. The Studio Tour website offers each artist a separate page including up to three images, an artist’s statement and/or Bio, a Google Map location of the artist’s tour location, and a link to the artist’s own website  (please link back to ours). The Studio Tour website is formatted for mobile devices and is a wonderful resource for those taking the tour. Artists are encouraged to increase audience and gain exposure by joining RiverArts’ social media campaigns on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Supporting the event

Participating artists must be RiverArts members ($35) and remit a processing fee ($75). We will subtract $25 from the processing fee for any artist who volunteers to help.

Your active participation helps make this a successful tour.  Volunteer opportunities include distributing posters and brochures to the public and assisting with mailings, the student art exhibit, preview shows, receptions, and inputting for Studio Tour website.  Volunteer options can be chosen on the registration form.

The RiverArts’ Studio Tour is a collaborative effort.  Want to get more involved?
